Conference Theme: Trends and Emerging Issues in Languages, Communication and Literature in the Post Modern Era.

Background:

The Kabarak University International Conference on Trends and Emerging Issues in Languages, Communication and Literature in the Postmodern Era in the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences seeks to provide a platform for learning and the dissemination of research findings in the areas of Languages, Linguistics, Literature, and Communication.

Conference Objectives:
  1. Dissemination of Research:
    To provide a platform for researchers to present their work and have it published in various avenues, such as Proceedings and Journal Special Issues.
  2. Networking:
    To provide a platform for networking between academia and industry to foster exchange of ideas, expertise, and spur collaboration.
Conference Tracks:
  1. Refocusing Language and Communication in the Postmodern Era
  2. Dynamics in the African Indigenous Language to meet Advances in the Digital Age
  3. Lugha na Maendeleo katika Karne ya Ishirini Moja
  4. Re-looking at the African Heritage given Emerging Modernities
  5. Impact of Epidemics and Technology on the Study of Literature
Call for Papers:

Kabarak University calls for submissions aligned to the listed tracks for presentation at the conference.

  1. All submission abstracts will be published in the Conference Book of Abstracts.
  2. Extended abstracts and short papers will be published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
  3. Selected submissions will be double-blind peer-reviewed for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Information Systems in Eastern Africa. http://journals.kabarak.ac.ke/index.php/jisea
Submission Formats:

  1. Extended Abstracts:

    • Max 4 pages, font 12, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins

    • Should include: introduction, background/literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and references

    • Considered for poster presentations or short talks (5–10 mins)

  2. Short Papers:

    • Max 8 pages, font 12, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins

    • Should include: abstract (200 words), background/literature review, methodology, results, implications/recommendations, and references

    • Scheduled for podium presentations (15–20 mins)

Conference Fees:
  • Kabarak University Undergraduate Students: KES 1,000
  • Postgraduate Students: KES 5,000
  • Kenyan Participants: KES 5,000
  • International Participants: USD 100
Conference Timelines:
  • Paper Acceptance and Notification: 30th August 2025
  • Full Paper Submission: 30th September 2025
  • Registration Deadline: 7th July 2025
  • Conference Date: 15th October 2025
