Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another conference for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
The State of Theological Education in Kenya
This track invites papers that explore the current landscape of theological education in Kenya, examining the strengths, challenges, and opportunities within theological institutions. Topics may include curriculum development, institutional structures, faculty quality, and the impact of theological education on the wider church and society. Contributors are encouraged to analyze how theological education is evolving to meet the needs of a diverse and dynamic Kenyan context.
Theological Education and Work Ethics
Papers under this subtheme will focus on the role of theological education in shaping ethical practices in the workplace. This track seeks to address how theology can inform and promote integrity, responsibility, and moral leadership in various professional settings. Topics may cover ethical dilemmas, the integration of biblical principles into work culture, and the development of ethical frameworks through theological instruction.
Online Pedagogy and Competency-Based Education
This subtheme examines the growing role of online learning and competency-based education in theological institutions. Papers should explore innovative teaching methods, the challenges and benefits of online theological education, and strategies for ensuring quality and accessibility. Additionally, this track invites discussions on how competency-based education can better equip students with the skills and knowledge required for ministry and other vocational pathways.
Theological Education and Environmental Response
With growing global concern about environmental issues, this track seeks papers that examine the relationship between theology and environmental stewardship. Theological education's role in promoting creation care, sustainable practices, and ethical responses to environmental crises will be key areas of focus. Contributions may explore how biblical teachings and theological principles can inspire and guide efforts to address climate change and ecological degradation.
Theological Education and Spiritual Formation
This track invites papers that delve into the intersection of theological education and spiritual growth. Participants are encouraged to explore how theological institutions can foster spiritual formation alongside academic learning. Topics may include the role of prayer, mentorship, community life, and spiritual disciplines in nurturing a deeper relationship with God and a stronger sense of vocational calling.
Theological Education and Christian Living
Papers in this track will examine how theological education equips individuals for practical Christian living. This includes the application of biblical principles to everyday life, personal decision-making, and engagement in social justice issues. Contributors are encouraged to reflect on how theological instruction shapes character, moral decision-making, and the practice of Christian virtues in both personal and communal contexts.
