Abstract

Title: "The use of an A.I Chatbot for Nutritional Education and Behavior Change"

Abstract:

Background: The prevalence of chronic diseases related to poor nutrition is increasing, due to a lack of information. Nutritional education and behavior change strategies are needed. Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots have potential as a tool for delivering nutrition education and promoting behavior change.

Objective: To implement an effective and well informed chatbot that will provide dietary advice and information through natural language conversations with users.

Methods: Develop an easily accessible, reliable and scalable chatbot to offer nutritional information. The chatbot utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to understand inputs from users and respond with relevant information. Also gives recommendations on meal combinations, eating schedules and personalized food suggestions based on the health conditions or desired of the user.

Results:  Based on a randomized control trial on the effects of using chatbots, an intervention group which used chatbots to receive dietary information, demonstrated a significant increase in nutrition knowledge (p < 0.05) and a significant improvement in dietary habits (p < 0.05) compared to a control group which received no intervention. Participants in the intervention group also reported high satisfaction with the AI chatbot and found it to be an easy and convenient way to receive nutrition education.

Conclusion: The use of an AI chatbot can effectively deliver nutrition education and promote behavior change in adults. These findings suggest that AI chatbots could be a valuable tool for addressing the increasing public health problem of poor nutrition and chronic disease.

Discussions and recommendation: The well-being and future of the human race depends on a well-informed and healthy nutritional understanding; every opportunity is to be exploit to secure it.
