Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The submission consists only of an abstract, as only abstracts will be accepted for the Kabarak University Annual Health Conference.
  • I acknowledge that full papers should be submitted separately for review and publication in the Kabarak University Journal of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Allied Sciences (KJMPS) once the abstract has been accepted and reviewed.
  • I acknowledge that policy briefs, progress reports, and best practice papers will be published in special issues of KJMPS once the abstract has been accepted and reviewed.

Author Guidelines

  • Abstracts (structured or unstructured) should not be more than 300 words in English, typed in Times New Roman, Font 12 with a line spacing of 1.5 and should outline the aims, content and conclusions and include Key words (5 max), Sub-Theme, Title, Authors' Name, Affiliations, Email Address, and Telephone Number of the Corresponding author. Note:NO NAME SHOULD APPEAR ON THE SUBMITTED ABSTRACT-ANONYMOUS SUBMISSION (TheĀ  page should only contain the Title and the Content)
  • Full papers will be submitted upon acceptance of the abstract to the Kabarak University Journal of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Allied Sciences.
  • Posters: A4 size ( 11.7" x 8.3") or (11.7" by 11.7") or within that aspect ratio, proportionally formatted and the submission MUST either be in PDF, Powerpoint or Publisher file formats.

Preventive and Promotive Health Services

This sub-theme is particularly interested in research on community health, environmental and public health issues, primary care networks, health promotion strategies, disease surveillance, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs, nutrition and dietetics, reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health (RMCAH), infection prevention and control (IPC), bioethics, biosafety, biosecurity, and occupational health and safety, including emergency and acute care.

Curative and Rehabilitative Health Services

This sub-theme is interested in papers that explore a range of healthcare topics, including chronic disease management, mental health, substance abuse, palliative care, and alternative medicine approaches and other non-communicable diseases.

Health Information Management Systems and Service Delivery

This sub-theme is particularly interested in research on health information technology, including electronic medical records, community health information systems, data analysis and visualization tools, Geographic Information Systems, integration and interoperability between different systems, laboratory information management systems, and personal health information systems.

Leadership and Governance in Health

This sub-theme is interested in papers that explore any aspect of health workforce development, health policy and its advocacy, planning, financing, implementation of health strategies, or the monitoring and evaluation of healthcare services, all with a focus on Human Resources for Health and ensuring quality through standards, regulations, and quality assurance.

Health Products and Technologies

This sub-theme is particularly interested in papers that explore advancements in healthcare, including new pharmaceuticals, diagnostic platforms, AI-powered technologies, vaccines, wearable devices, drones for medical purposes, robotics in healthcare, advancements in imaging techniques, digital health solutions, and telemedicine.

One Health, Climate and Biosecurity

This sub-theme is looking for papers that address global health threats through a combination of preparedness, response, and clinical care, with a focus on emerging infectious diseases, tropical and travel medicine, and health emergency/acute care.

Health Research Ethics

Health research ethics ensures that studies involving human participants are conducted with integrity, fairness, and respect for rights. This sub-theme explores key ethical principles, including informed consent, confidentiality, risk-benefit analysis, and approval processes. It addresses challenges in emerging fields like antimicrobial resistance (AMR), clinical trials, and digital health. Special focus is given to ethical considerations for vulnerable populations. By fostering dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and ethics boards, this sub-theme promotes responsible research practices that uphold human dignity while advancing scientific knowledge for public health benefits.
